Worse yet, while you can edit the transaction, making sure it shows the splits correctly, it still only synced the incorrect transaction! Often I catch the changes to the splits before leaving the screen showing the splits and before saving the transaction. A common problem is with two splits, the first will change to “Deposit” and change to the amount of the second split, resulting in a zero-sum transaction. When adding new splits, the first (or last, sometimes) split will change from “Payment” to “Deposit” and sometimes the amounts will change. Having the search bar always visible and focused, even for preselected categories would be a huge improvement!Įntering split transactions almost always fails. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency when setting a category, if it selects one for you and this you have to scroll around to choose the right one, or if the selection table is scrolled to the top with the search bar revealed, where one can start typing and get the right category quickly. The two biggest functional problems are with categorizing transactions and split transactions. It effortlessly tracks your income and expenses. It is a convenient and easy-to-use software. The application comes with online banking features, bill payment options, bank account management, budgeting as well as investment tracking. Take a look at the defunct PocketQuicken for something that was a joy to use. Moneydance is a user-friendly personal finance software with multiple tools to help you budget your money. While the UI has improved with the most recent update, it’s still difficult to use. UI is clunky and split transactions don’t work And lastly, the Mac app needs to be available in the Mac App store if the developers want to sell more copies. Also, the Mac app needs customizable investment screens like Quicken so I can view quotes, hi's and low's, dividend yield, annualized return, etc. If Quicken could do it, they should be able to do it. It needs to be able to download transactions from other institutions - like Capital One VISA. Its a full-fledged personal finance manager with a slick interface. I acquired the app to be able to put receipts in on the fly and sync when I get home. If you need to track your expenses on your Mac, look no further than Moneydance for Mac.

I usually wait until the stock quotes update before activating the phone app because it syncs so quickly, I don't want to miss it and wonder if it actually happened. All you need to do is open MoneyDance on your Mac and then open the iPhone app. But if you watch the bottom of the MoneyDance Mac Window, it will eventually sync if you wait long enough (usually less than a minute). Sometimes it syncs, sometimes it doesn't.
